Observation showed that what a man sows, that he reaps, and that the wildest and most powerful animals are sometimes destroyed. <a class=\"bibleref\" href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/reference\/Job4.12\" data-reference=\"Job4.12\" data-datatype=\"bible\">12<\/a>He<span id=\"marker1942434\" class=\"offset-marker\" data-offset=\"140429\"><\/span> (Eliphaz) had, moreover, been oracularly informed, through a vision, how inadmissible is the supposition that a mortal\u2014a creature of the day, can be regarded as pure in the eyes of God, who beholds def<span id=\"marker1942435\" class=\"offset-marker\" data-offset=\"140629\"><\/span>ect even in his angels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"lang-en\">5 <a class=\"bibleref\" href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/reference\/Job5.1\" data-reference=\"Job5.1\" data-datatype=\"bible\">1<\/a>.\u2014Look where Job might, he would find no godly being who would countenance him; <a class=\"bibleref\" href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/reference\/Job6.5\" data-reference=\"Job6.5\" data-datatype=\"bible\">5<\/a>for nothing in natu<span id=\"marker1182342\" class=\"offset-marker\" data-offset=\"141481\"><\/span>re cries out if it feels no hurt, and the stomach naturally revolts against what is nauseous.<\/p>\n<p class=\"lang-en\"><a class=\"bibleref\" href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/reference\/Job6.8\" data-reference=\"Job6.8\" data-datatype=\"bible\">8<\/a>He does wish for death, and he has the testimony of his conscience that it would be a happy release for h<span id=\"marker1182343\" class=\"offset-marker\" data-offset=\"141681\"><\/span>im; nor can he possibly entertain any such prospect of worldly restoration as has been held out to him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"lang-en\"><a class=\"bibleref\" href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/reference\/Job6.14\" data-reference=\"Job6.14\" data-datatype=\"bible\">14<\/a>Like wintry torrents in the desert, which in the summer disappoint the expectations of thirsty<span id=\"marker1182344\" class=\"offset-marker\" data-offset=\"141881\"><\/span> travellers, his friends, once loud in their professions, now failed him in the hour of need; <a class=\"bibleref\" href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/reference\/Job6.22\" data-reference=\"Job6.22\" data-datatype=\"bible\">22<\/a>and that, when he was not putting their friendship to an over-severe test.<\/p>\n<p class=\"lang-en\"><a class=\"bibleref\" href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/reference\/Job6.24\" data-reference=\"Job6.24\" data-datatype=\"bible\">24<\/a>Let them, if they will, sho<span id=\"marker1182345\" class=\"offset-marker\" data-offset=\"142081\"><\/span>w him his error; only, if they would convince him, they must exhibit more fairness, and must not judge of his words without estimating also his sufferings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"lang-en\">7 <a class=\"bibleref\" href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/reference\/Job7.1\" data-reference=\"Job7.1\" data-datatype=\"bible\">1<\/a>.\u2014So great, and so unintermitting were hi<span id=\"marker1182346\" class=\"offset-marker\" data-offset=\"142281\"><\/span>s sufferings, that he might reasonably long for the end, of the hard service in which he was engaged, and, of his day of life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"lang-en\"><a class=\"bibleref\" href=\"https:\/\/biblia.com\/reference\/Job7.7\" data-reference=\"Job7.7\" data-datatype=\"bible\">7<\/a>He would remind God that his life was a mere wind\u2014a mere passing cloud;
